Wal-mart, the largest retailer in the US announced its continued support for the nonprofit organization, The Salvation Army this holiday Christmas season. Wal-mart raised $30 million last season for The Salvation Army in red kettles outside Wal-Mart and Sam's Club locations.
Wal-Mart CEO Lee Scott, will present The Salvation Army with a $1 million check on behalf of the Wal-Mart Foundation. In April this year, The Salvation Army honoured Wal-Mart with its Evangeline Booth Award for excellence in corporate philanthropy. Last year, Wal-Mart gave more than $270 million to local communities in the United States showing its continued committment to a philosophy of giving back locally.
